I was born and grew up in one of the biggest cities in the United Kingdom.
Along with my family and for reasons unbeknown to me, I upped and left in order to move to one of the smallest towns in the United Kingdom.
During my time there, outside my small circle of friends, so few people had actually shown me kindness that I ended up moving to one of the biggest cities in the world with an incredibly dim view of human nature.
It didn’t take me long to shake off my blues once I had dropped my stuff off at my new place in Central London.
For the few years that I had lived there I flourished. The year before I had moved was particularly difficult for me and it was the biggest relief to know that I would be beginning a fresh new chapter.
There is something about cities that I find unbelievably romantic. The idea that undertaking such a simple task like popping out for a pint of milk will leave my brain filled with endless amounts of inspiration, is something that I will always pine for.
I believe that cities are the place to be, especially for anyone creative and looking to live an unconventional life. Due to the massive scale of diversity within places as large as London, you are put into a position where you are free of any influence and that is nothing short of liberating. You can be who you are. No one bothers you and you don’t bother them. It’s that simple.
Unfortunately, as a result of impracticalities, I have had to move back to the small little town where I had such a troublesome time previously. I am also completely aware of the fact that I was blessed to live in such a wonderful place like London for the amount of time that I did.
However, it just doesn’t seem to take away the fact that I’m finding it difficult to re-adjust.
I am specifically writing this article for anyone who has tried to express the difficulties that they are facing to someone and have had “Well, why don’t you just move then?” as an answer.
It doesn’t always work like that and I want anyone who is conscious of this to know that if you are looking for a sign in order to understand that everything is going to be okay, then this is it.
Aesthetically, the area where I am now living is beautiful. I live just on the edge of town where there are rolling hills and the air is as crisp as a white sheet.
Unfortunately, all of this seems to be overshadowed by the fact that I am not used to being around people that are so oblivious to the notion that there is actually a world outside of this bloomin’ town.
The place hasn’t changed a bit from when I left and I hate it more now than I did before which I didn’t think was humanly possible.
I hate the small mindedness, the lack of motivation that people seem to have, the lack of ambition, and the lack of forward thinking. I hate that despite everything, I get the impression that a large amount of the residents here simultaneously twin all of this with a ridiculously unneeded sense of superiority. But what I hate the most is the fact that I have to stay here until I have “got my shit together”
Even one of my closest friends said to me “They are probably nice people if I got to know them but they just seem like a lost cause. Don’t they want to make something of themselves? Having kids and staying in a job they hate is what most people seem to be doing.” And she was born and grew up here! Now do you believe me?
Taking all of this into account, I have decided to compile some quotes for anyone who finds this easy to relate to. Also, remember that nothing lasts forever. The sheer fact that you are worrying that you will remain in your situation is already proof that you will do everything in your power to remove yourself from anything that no longer makes you happy, when the time is right.
Stay positive people.

“You need to sacrifice almost everything to achieve your goal. So when people say you’re lucky, they don’t know what they’re talking about. The people that say that will never achieve their goals because luck has nothing to do with it. If I was lucky, i wouldn’t have failed so many times, I wouldn’t have had so many sleepless nights.
