Practical ways to get writing when you’re feeling uninspired

I have tonnes of pages filled with things that I would love to write but often, finding the motivation to actually get writing can prove itself to be a little bit of a challenge.

Don’t get me wrong, I love love love to write and it provides me with a sense of satisfaction that I don’t feel I could achieve elsewhere but as with anything, feeling uninspired can often be commonplace.

Whether you are lacking in ideas or just the initial nudge needed in order to execute them, here are ten practical things I do to help me get my mojo back.

  1. Take photographs
  2. Go for a run
  3. Watch Sex and the City (for some reason, this always makes me want to sit at my desk with a cup of tea and just write.)
  4. Go and explore
  5. Create a nice environment. Candles, fresh flowers and ambient lighting are your best friends.
  6. Read. This one is so important
  7. Have discussions
  8. Watch your favourite film
  9. Observe
  10. Draw

What inspires you to write?
