The little shop with a big personality.

In a time when it seems as though chain brands dominate our high streets, I can’t help but feel it’s a massive shame that little independent businesses are falling under the radar.

Do you know what though? I completely get it. Cheaper alternatives are being offered to us by chain stores that makes it even harder for us to part with our cash elsewhere, but smaller shops are really taking the hit.

It seems to have brought us to a point where shoppers have already decided which stores they intend to browse before they’ve even left the house and seeking comfort in the familiar is commonplace (That is of course if they haven’t already chosen to shop online. Hoorah for the digital age!)

If you are one of those people, let me give you an example of exactly what you are missing out on. Say hello to “Fancy That”, a small but mighty shop based in Banbury that is bursting with character.

I decided to give it a visit this morning and I can honestly say, you are not going to get a shopping experience on the high street quite like this one.

Not only are the staff lovely, the unique and quirky stock is proof that spending a little extra doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. Take a look for yourself.

Next time you go shopping, don’t forget to check out the independent shops in your area. You don’t know what you’re missing out on.

Alternatively, if you’re in the Banbury area, take a little trip to “Fancy That” on 20 Parsons Street, OX16 5LY.

  1. I love this blog and I couldn’t agree more! Independent shops are the best places to shop as I am finding all the same things in main stream chain stores. This little store looks so fun, I might have to try find it!

    1. Ah thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it and I completely agree about a lot of things being the same in main stream stores. You should definitely give it a visit if you’re around 🙂
